Although, I have seen Hadley. She’s been into the diner a few times and stopped by the cabin. She hasn’t said anything, but the look on her face tells me she knows. But she hasn’t yelled at me or gotten upset, so maybe my being with her brother doesn’t upset her. At least, I hope it doesn’t. My friendship with her is more important, but I really like Marshall. Even if he’s only acted like an alpha asshole so far. I know there’s a softer side to him, so I just need to work harder at bringing that out of him. I see how he is with his family; he loves them, a lot. He’s hardworking and driven. Has his own business outside the ranch making saddles.

He’s a good guy, he just needs to stop being a dick long enough to show it.

The rest of the day, all I can think about is him. I’m so distracted that I almost knock over an order of drinks on the customers and mess up a few plates of food.

“Are you alright?” Diane asks as I bring a tray full of dirty dishes to the kitchen.

“Oh, umm, yes?” I say, knowing that’s a lie.

She laughs, giving me a small smile. “Take the trash out, then you can go on your break.”

“Yeah.” I let out a breath. “Thanks.”

Grabbing the trash, I head out the back door. After I’m done, I start to head back inside to the break room when I hear laughing and tires squealing.

Brows furrowed, I head around the building to the side. There’s a truck there doing donuts, a group of people hanging out the back. They're loud and rowdy, a few of them have bottles in their hands. Are they drunk? I hope the driver didn’t drink as well.

Do I go in and tell Diane or should I just call the cops? I don’t want to cause any issues and piss people off. It’s a small town. But I don’t want anyone to get hurt, either.

Thankfully, they drive closer to the diner and park. “I’m starving!” one of the guys shouts as the group of them jump out of the truck. That’s when I see Landon climb out of the driver's seat. And my fear was justified; he has a fucking bottle of vodka in his hand and takes a swig.

Taking a step back, I go to head inside, but I’m not fast enough. Landon sees me and his face lights up. “Hey, you!” he shouts, jogging over to me.

“Hi,” I say, forcing a smile. “You sure you all should be drinking and driving?” I ask, raising a brow.

“Ah, it’s just a few drinks. I’m not drunk.” He laughs. Looking over his shoulder, I see a few of his friends tripping over their feet and falling to the ground, breaking out into a fit of laughter. “Okay, maybe they are. But I’m totally fine.”

“Sure.” I nod my head. I think I’ll tell Diane. She probably knows them. Maybe she can talk them into leaving their keys behind and walking home, or finding another ride.
